PowerPoints
"PowerPoints may not be of any use for you in a presentation, but it may liberate you in another way, an artistic way, who knows."
-David Byrne
PowerPoints are colorful, organized and clean which is why PowerPoints are a great tool for visuals. However, you can be overdosed in using its cool stuff and putting on too much stuff. Which we will tell you how to make a great PowerPoint.
Tips to make a GREAT PowerPoint presentation!
1. Organize and draft many times
This will help you fix your mistakes and change it back, etc. It is not permanent, you can change for as many times until you are satisfied. Organize your information into sections, it might be easier for you to look for things.
2. Understand your audience
With understanding your audience, you can change the mood of how you speak, your powerpoint, your language, etc. For example, you can't choose a cheery, rainbow template for a presentation about the French Revolution.
3. Prepare and rehearse presentation
Talk at a pace that you are comfortable with. Don't talk too fast or all of your information will not be included in your presentation. Timing your presentation might also be a good idea.
Slides
Text
Do not put more than 5 words for 1 line, no more than 5 lines per slide. Too much words is too much, and makes the powrpoint hard to look and observe at. Try not to write long sentences which make people read; we want people to look quickly. Instead of long sentences use short and easy bullet key points. Make sure that the text color is difffernt with the background, but not too different because then it would not match. It is better to use images to replace your words, but if it is difficult use bullet points.
Images
Images should not be just pasted onto slides, they should be presented uniquely, and intelligently. Do not use images that state the obvious. It is a waste of space. They should also be thoughtful, give proffessionalism and good impression.
Fonts and Colors
Fonts and colors are very cool, however fonts and colors make the audience blind and cannot be able to read text easily. However, it is not just that it is hard to read but it also grabs their attention to the screen not to you. Therefore, you should select colors carefully and match to the theme and mood of your presentation and powerpoint. Use large fonts for important information.
Graphics/Animation/Effects
Graphics are very proffesional and cool. It makes powerpoints more interesting. Everyone knows that. However, too much is too much. Overload of graphics makes the audience need more than one pair of eyes. It makes it too complex. Use simple effects, transformations, and animations a little. To help you not to be having an overload of graphics, use limits. The Limit: 2 graphics per slide.
Graphs/Charts/Numbers
It is good to organize information and presenting it. However, presenting it in a very complex way is not good. They should be simple designs and simple colors. Use graphs instead of lists.
Information
Don't put too much information on your slides. Reduce the amount of information to only what you rly need. Do not put extra stuff.
